Gallery of extra creative Art Bellies prints
Each Art Bellies pregnancy art kit comes with enough materials for you to really have fun and get creative - did we mention that each kit also include 6 sheets of practice paper? And just because we've only recommended 3 different ways to make an Art Bellies print, that is by no means the absolute limit. Your imagination knows no bounds. This is art, not rocket science. Feel free to color slightly outside the lines. Here are a few examples of truly creative prints.
Truth. Love. Beauty.
This three part wall panel was sent to us by Julie and Gary. They were inspired by the Japanese look and feel of the prints so they stenciled in the characters that translate to Truth, Love and Beauty. In case anyone has heard about placenta art but was turned off by the idea (we were), please look closely at the middle portrait with the yellow background. It is beautiful.
Baby inside
This is our mom's favorite print. We gave this blue-on-blue Art Bellies print to her before our little girl was born and one day when she was baby sitting, she surprised us with this wonderful footprint addition. Grandmoms love this one!

Dr. Seuss Tree
This is a derivative of the standard Asian-Inspired Art Bellies print. But instead of just taking the silhouette of the front, we continued to trace the whole body. We then filled in all the negative space with the Japanese ink and the full body pregnant image appered. This was made on banana leaf paper. It is one of our favorites.

accidents ARE art
Toni Rakestraw of Organic Birth painted this star burst radiant image. I absolutely love it. She applied the ochres very thick with a lot of water and really feathered the edges. The print was so wet that it took a few days for it to dry before she felt comfortable applying the ink silhouette. And after she had waited and labored over the original design, ink dripped from her brush and ran all across the golden side. But to me - this is what makes the image so dynamic. Toni feels the same way - here is her response to this so called accident: "At first I was appalled at my mistake, but it grew on me. I kind of
like it now. The drips almost remind me of the sweat and tears that are
a part of motherhood. They could also represent the dripping milk
available to the baby."
Send us your inspired Art Bellies Prints and we'll post them here.
